LAMB STATEMENT ON PASSAGE OF LEGISLATION TO STRENGTHEN LAWS TO HELP PREVENT GUN VIOLENCE

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Representative Conor Lamb (PA-17) issued the following statement regarding House passage of H.R. 8:

"Today the House finally passed a law requiring background checks for all gun sales.  Members of both parties came together to get this done.  Tomorrow we'll pass another bipartisan bill to give law enforcement enough time to finish the background checks.  The current time limit on background checks is too short, meaning that sometimes police can’t finish the checks, and criminals are able to slip through the cracks."

"Victims of gun violence, parents, children, gun owners and police officers, among others, have asked us to build a background check system that actually works.  We all share the same goal to keep guns out of the hands of people who should not have them, while fully protecting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding, responsible Americans.  That’s what these two bills will do, and we need to get them signed into law."
