(PITTSBURGH, PA) – Representative Conor Lamb (PA-17) issued the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released the April jobs report showing that the U.S. economy lost 20.5 million jobs in April and the unemployment rate is 14.7%:

"Today's jobs report confirms what we already knew, that the coronavirus is having a devastating economic impact on people across the country and right here in our community.

Workers, families and small businesses are facing this difficult situation through no fault of their own, and they need help now. Congress needs to pass additional, bipartisan legislation that gives families, small businesses, first responders and essential workers what they need during this crisis. Everyone still needs cash, the ability to be tested, and proper PPE. Only these things in combination will keep people safe and give them the confidence to get the economy moving again."
