LAMB PARTNERS WITH VIETNAM WAR 50TH ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATION TO HONOR WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA’S VIETNAM VETERANS

March 1, 2019
Press Release

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Representative Conor Lamb (PA-17) has been appointed an official partner of the Vietnam War 50th Commemoration, a program developed by the Department of Defense that enlists federal, state and local agencies and organizations to assist in thanking and honoring Vietnam veterans and their families for their contribution to the war effort and community.

"The men and women who served during the Vietnam War are often overlooked,” said Lamb.  “As a partner in this effort, I am committed to recognizing the service of our local Vietnam veterans, and providing them with the care, respect and honor they have earned, and rightfully deserve."

The Commemoration program honors all Vietnam veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces between November 1, 1955 and May 15, 1975, regardless of location.  According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, nine million Americans served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces during the period of the Vietnam War; approximately seven million are living today.  To reach these large numbers, the Commemoration has enlisted the assistance of partner organizations such as Congressional offices.  Lamb joins as the 95th Congressional partner.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has the fourth largest veteran population in the U.S., with more than 800,000 living veterans, 280,000 of which served in Vietnam. If you or someone you know is an eligible Vietnam veteran and you’re interested in receiving this recognition, please contact Congressman Lamb’s office at (412) 344-5583 or visit https://lamb.house.gov/issues/veterans/vietnam-war-50th-commemoration.  For more information on the Vietnam War 50th Commemoration, visit http://www.vietnamwar50th.com/.
