LAMB ANNOUNCES THE 2019 CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION
(WASHINGTON, DC) -- Representative Conor Lamb (PA-17) is now accepting entries for the annual Congressional Art Competition, a nationwide competition for high school students interested in the arts and looking for an opportunity to showcase their creativity. Sponsored by the Congressional Institute, the annual contest recognizes young artists across the nation and is open to all high school students living in Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District.
"The Congressional Art Competition encourages and cultivates the ingenuity and creativity of young people in our region,” said Lamb. “This competition is also an opportunity to celebrate the significant role arts and culture play in southwestern Pennsylvania, and I am looking forward to seeing the submissions from students across our District."
The winner’s artwork is displayed for one year in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. The winner from PA-17 is also eligible to receive a $3,000-per-year scholarship to the Savannah College of Art.
All entries are accepted at one of Lamb’s following District Offices by 5 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2019:
Artworks entered in the contest may be up to 26 inches (high) by 26 inches (wide) by up to 4 inches in depth, and cannot weigh more than 15 pounds, including the frame. The artwork may be:
- Paintings - including oil, acrylics, and watercolor
- Drawings - including pastels, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink, and markers
- Collage - must be two dimensional
- Prints - including lithographs, silkscreen, and block prints
- Mixed Media – use of more than two mediums such as pencil ink, watercolor, etc.
- Computer Generated Art
- Photography
All entries must be an original in concept, design and execution and may not violate U.S. Copyright laws. Any entry that has been copied from an existing photo or image will not be accepted. For more information on copyright laws, please click here.
Every participant must print out and complete the Student Information and Release form which can be downloaded by clicking here. Artwork cannot be accepted without an attached fully-completed release form.
