Press Release

(PITTSBURGH, PA) – Representative Conor Lamb (PA-17) announced that the application period for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program is now open and will close on Friday, December 17 at 5:00 PM

The AFG Program provides direct federal financial assistance to eligible fire departments, nonaffiliated emergency medical service (EMS) organizations and State Fire Training Academies (SFTA).  The funds provide resources to equip and train emergency personnel to recognized standards, enhance operational efficiencies, foster interoperability and supports community resilience.

“For the past 20 years, this program has helped to ensure the safety of firefighters and first responders,” said Lamb.  “I encourage local organizations who can benefit from these grants in PA-17 to apply today.”

Through funding designated within the American Rescue Plan and the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act of 2021, $414 million will be awarded under the FY2021 AFG Program to assist first-responder organizations.
