October 16, 2019 Press Release

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, the House passed H.R. 3207, a bill introduced by Representative Conor Lamb (PA-17) to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 114 Mill Street in Hookstown, Pennsylvania, as the "Staff Sergeant Dylan Elchin Post Office Building."  Staff Sergeant Elchin was tragically killed by a roadside bomb in Ghazni province in Afghanistan on November 27, 2018.

On October 15, 2019, the House passed H.R. 2385, a bipartisan bill authored by Representatives Conor Lamb (PA-17) and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1) to provide the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs with the authority to establish a grant program to conduct cemetery research and produce outreach materials for the Veterans Legacy Program (VLP), an educational initiative from the National Cemetery Administration (NCA).

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Representative Conor Lamb (PA-17) and Representatives Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01), Guy Reschenthaler (PA-14), Joe Courtney (CT-02) and Andy Levin (MI-09) introduced the bipartisan Federally Requiring Earned Education-Debt Discharges for Veterans Act (FREED Vets Act) to require the U.S. Department of Education to automatically discharge federal student loan debt for eligible permanently disabled veterans.  A companion Senate version of this legislation is also being introduced by Senators Jack Reed (RI) and Johnny Isakson (GA).

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Representative Conor Lamb (PA-17) joined Representative Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07), the bill’s sponsor, as well as Rob Bishop (UT-01), Jackie Speier (CA-14), and Michael Waltz (FL-06) in the introduction of H.R. 3266, the JROTC Cyber Training Act.  This bipartisan legislation directs the Secretary of Defense to carry out a program to enhance the preparation of students in the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) for careers in computer science and cybersecurity.
